This wonderful home in Huntley, IL in the Harmony Trail Estates neighborhood was undergoing some exciting changes. The homeowners added a bedroom addition above the main living area that had a high vaulted ceiling, to make way for a nursery for a new baby on the way! The homeowners also wanted to solve a problem with another one of the bedrooms in the home that always seemed too cold in the Winter and way too hot in the summer. It had gotten bad enough that they were relying on space heaters and a portable air conditioner to make their older child's bedroom comfortable. They had heard about Mitsubishi ductless heating and air conditioning and called us here at Compass Heating and Air to see if we could design a solution that would keep both children comfortable and safe year-round.
Problem: Homeowners needed additional heating and cooling for new nursery and to solve ongoing issues with hot and cold spots in a child's bedroom.
Solution: Two zones of Mitsubishi Hyper Heat ductless heating and air conditioning will keep both rooms comfortable (and safe!) year-round.
Many large homes like this one use forced hot air heating and air conditioning systems. This provides comfort throughout a home, but often times, there are rooms that just don't seem to get even heating. This often means cranking up the heat to try to get these spaces warm, making the rest of the home feel like a sauna and wasting energy. There's a similar problem in the summer, where in order to get those steamy rooms cool, the rest of the house feels like a refrigerator, and the energy bills end up being much higher as a result, and no one ends up being truly happy in the process.
For this family, the problem was exacerbated because the room with uneven heating was for their child. Adding traditional supplemental heating choices like electric space heaters can pose a danger for young children, risking accidental burns or even fires if a blanket gets left on top, for example, causing real worries for parents. Portable air conditioners can help cool in the summer, but they are also inefficient and expensive to run.
When we came to the home, we knew that a Mitsubishi Ductless Heating and Air Conditioning system would be the perfect solution. Mitsubishi ductless systems, sometimes referred to as mini-splits, consists of two parts- an outdoor condenser unit and indoor, wall-mounted units. The outdoor unit can be connected to as many as eight indoor, wall mounted units that provide both heating and cooling, as needed. Each indoor unit can be controlled independently, creating a separate zone of heating and cooling wherever they are located.
Each indoor unit, sometimes called heads or cassettes, can be adjusted independently by a handheld remote control, but you can also choose a wall thermostat or even a Kumo Cloud controller, that will let you control the units from your smart phone! This means that when the kids are off with Grandma or at school, the units can be turned off when not in use, saving energy. Then, when the kids are getting ready for playtime or bedtime, the units will distribute hot or cool air, as needed, evenly throughout the room, making sure the children get peaceful night sleep- something every parent will cherish.
Mitsubishi ductless units are equipped with state of the art sensors that measure both temperature and humidity in the room, and then they distribute the hot or cool air evenly throughout the room. The systems use a super-efficient inverter technology that allows them to use just the amount of energy needed to keep the comfort level consistent, kind of like the cruise control on your car. And just like cruise control, this technology helps each ductless unit to deliver world-class comfort, quietly and efficiently. The systems are also equipped with an advanced filtration system, keeping allergens from circulating and the air quality high, which is especially important for young children.
Anyone who has ever used a window air conditioner knows they are loud and noisy. With children in the house, it's important to parents to hear everything, and Mitsubishi ductless systems deliver quiet comfort- only 22db, at the level of a whisper. That means parents won't miss any middle of the night cries, or perhaps afternoon mischief - the Mitsubishi ductless units will make sure the homeowners can keep track of the little ones without worry.
Our homeowners were also excited to find that because the Mitsubishi ductless systems are so energy efficient, they qualified for a $500 rebate! With a growing family, every dollar counts, so getting perfect comfort for the children, saving money with a rebate, and also reducing energy bills will help the family have that little extra bit of money that can go a long way with little ones around.
As you can see from the pictures, at Compass Heating and Air, we take the time to make sure the installation of the system looks great, inside and out. We made sure to run the required lines so that the indoor installation looks seamless, and the external lines make a minimum impact on the outside of the home as well. The "hide a lines" we use externally are also paintable to further help them blend into the exterior of the home.
Best of all, as Mitsubishi ductless heating and air conditioning Elite Diamond dealers and contractors, Compass Heating and Air offers a full twelve-year warranty on Mitsubishi installations!
